Parent FAQ's- Things to know before picture day
How soon before picture day should I get my child's haircut?
We recommend at least a week before picture day! Let's face it- kids are hard to pin down, never mind sit in a chair perfectly still for more than 5 minutes!! I think we have all walked away from the hair dresser with something too short or lines where a perfect fade should be! Give that style some time to grow out but still look sharp!
What should my child wear on picture day?
Anything that shows their fun personality! If you are sending them in with fancy sharp dressed clothes, just make sure you check with your school to make sure they can change them on picture day for you!
You can always coordinate your child's outfit to the backdrop by looking at the picture day posters hung around your school in the weeks before picture day!
Also just as a helpful note, less busy patterns and solid colors tend to work best! Avoid pin stripes and loud colors (like neons)- although cute in person, sometimes they don't turn out in pictures quite the same!
Do I need to register or pre-order my photos?
Nope! We photograph every child in attendance on picture day and you don't buy unless you love them!
A QR card with a link and unique code will go home on the day of picture day. You just register that code and you will be notified via email or text as soon as your adorable photos are ready!
Can I choose my background or theme for my child's photos?
At Storybook we really try and focus on your child's personality therefor we try not to "muddy the waters" with all those choices! We try and offer the variety parents want with our different poses and props!
We offer very simple backdrops that are pre-selected before picture day for the whole school. In the Spring that will always be a solid color and for our holiday sessions it is a more generic printed backdrop with a Christmas themed banner. We will always make sure to provide a backdrop that no matter what your child wears- they will look great and those shining personalities will pop!
We do offer a selection of props that we rotate and add to each season to keep things contemporary and different so that you always get high quality and modern pictures!
Can I be in the room when you photograph my child?
We do ask parents not to be in the room at the time of your child's session. It's best if you drop your child off at least 30 minutes before their classes scheduled picture time so that your child has time to get into their normal routine before pictures. It can be a bit overwhelming for some children, but rest assured all of our staff are extensively trained to work with children! We know how to read and interact with kids and we love doing it! Please give us the opportunity to connect with your child and give you those amazing Storybook pictures you want!
It is also worth noting that a school staff member (usually the schools director or child's teacher) will remain in the room with them the whole time! So if they are a little unsure, they will always have a familiar face in their with them!
If you feel very strongly about being present for your child's session, we do ask that you would give us a window of at least 3 minutes to work with them before you are in attendance. But hey, we are willing to try anything to capture those precious smiles, so if you want to jump in and hold the tickle stick and try and make your child laugh- come on in! Due to time restrictions though we will not be able to work with your child for more than 7 minutes.
Parent FAQ's- AFTER picture day
How long after picture day until I can see my images?
Depending on your schools size, it could take up to a week before your photos go live.
We do professionally edit every image taking care to make sure you are getting the highest quality image possible, but it does take some time to do!
How many images should my child have?
We do our very best to provide at least 3-5 amazing images of every child we get to interact with! However sometimes we do have children who are more shy and not quite sure of us! We have a philosophy around here that we would rather just try again next time if they really are that unsure.
I lost my QR card, can I still view my child's images?
Please check with your school as they have been provided with a master list of all the QR codes. If you need immediate assistance in finding your child's code, please reach out to preschoolphotography@gmail.com or call (855) 7-PHOTOS
Please understand if you wait until the weekend of your coupon deadline, we may or may not be able to get your students code to you within the coupon deadline. We do try our best to be available as often as we can during our seasons, but sometimes may not be able to return calls or emails until our normal Monday-Friday office hours. Thank you for understanding.
Why am I not being taxed on some products?
There is no sales tax on digital products in Florida and many other states! So take advantage of that money saver and order digitals! You can print the images from home or have your own products made from online vendors such as mPix.com!
Can I print my digital downloads?
You sure can! Every digital download order comes with a generated print release which enables you to print from anywhere!
Just use premium photo paper in your at home printer or take it to a local print shop! You can also use your favorite online print vendor such as vistaprint.com or mPix.com. We do recommend that you make sure whatever printer you are using is an image quality printer and calibrated as such.
How long after picture day until I receive my order?
After images go live, you will have an opportunity to take advantage of our early order discount window for approximately a week. The discount is automatically deducted in your cart at checkout. If you place your order within that window, your picture package will be delivered to the school within 3 weeks of your picture day.
If you order digital downloads- you will receive an email with a link to download your images immediately after your order is paid for.
If you order after your schools discount window, usually orders take about 10-15 days to be shipped directly to your home.
How long do I have to order my child's photos?
You will have approximately a week to order your child's photos once they go live to receive an early order discount. After that photos will be archived in approximately a month.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ORDER YOUR PHOTOS BEFORE YOUR ARCHIVE DATE! Prints will no longer be available after the archive date. We can still get you digital downloads, but there is a no exception $15 late order fee if you order after the archive date. We do this to ensure fairness to every family we service as well as the man power it takes to process an order after the photos are archived.
Do you offer retakes?
Unfortunately we do not offer retakes at this time. If your child was unable to attend their school photo session and you still want those awesome Storybook quality images, we encourage you to book a private session with one of our photographers. My child's photos have been archived, can I still order my photos?
Due to unexpected life events and unpredictable schedules we do understand that you may not have been able to get your child's pictures ordered. If you want your child's images, we want you to have them! However due to tax reporting as well as other system settings, we are only able to sell digital downloads after the archive date.
The pricing is the same as in season, however there is a non-negotiable $15 late order fee if you order after the archive date. We do this to ensure fairness to every family we service as well as the man power it takes to process an order after the photos are archived.
The system we have during season is amazing and cuts out a huge portion of manpowered workflow- that all goes away after images are archived and it is an entirely manual process to get you your images.
